My name is Steven Bal, I'm 27 years old and I live in the Netherlands. I created this website with Django — a Python framework for web development — as a bit of an experiment with web development, as well as to put some of the little projects that I've been working on on display.

My hobbies include listening to a lot of different music, making music (electronic music, there are some songs on my SoundCloud), table tennis and photography.

In 2018, I acquired my Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence, at the University of Amsterdam. I enjoyed my time studying, but I wanted to put my skills (or at least one of my skills, namely programming) to practice.

Since 2019, I'm employed at Maykin Media as a web developer. In practice, I'm a full stack developer, although I prefer (and probably am more proficient at) backend development. In my time at Maykin, I've been part of several projects, such as:

• Open Zaak, an open source API platform for case-oriented working in municipalities
• API Test Platform, a service to test compliancy of implementations of API standards based on Postman collections
• Virtuele Gemeente Assistent, a virtual assistent on websites of municipalities that answers questions from citizens
